Today’s Thoughts from Park City Family Office: Friday, March 27th 2020
Well, we made it to Friday, although one has to wonder if weekends actually look any different than the weekdays now that shelter-in-place orders have been issued for nearly 60% of the American population…. In an effort to keep you abreast with our new ever changing world, here are the most recent updates as they relate to you:
- It’s another week for the history books. Tuesday: the highest percentage gain for the Dow since 1933. Wednesday: T-Bills moved to a negative yield. Thursday: record new unemployment benefit claims of 3.3 million—doubling some estimates. In the end, the Dow finished the week in the green.
- We are reminded that while Bear Markets hurt, they are historically short in nature. The patient are wildly rewarded for keeping their heads when everything around them seems to tell them differently. See the below chart reflecting historical market ups and downs:
